Mobile Gaming is in a rapid growth right now, As many of the high-end games like PUBG, Fortnite, hitting the smartphone world. Smartphone makers had already noticed it last year and starting with the Razor phone we came to see a couple of gaming-centric devices like the Xiaomi’s Black Shark and Nubia’s Red magic.
we surely know that Asus will also launch one, as they are into both smartphone market(Zenfone) and gaming market (ROG). finally, today at Computex 2018 in Taiwan, they introduced their first gaming smartphone, The ROG phone.
The ROG phone comes with a 6-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 90Hz and with a response time of 1ms. it also supports HDR by using a dedicated hardware chip. Talking about the internals, The ROG Phone is powered by Adreno 630 GPU along with the Snapdragon 845 SoC clocked at 2.96GHz (which is just insane). and it comes with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.
It has a new GameCool system that improves thermals with a copper heat spreader and 3D vapor chamber which transfers the heat from SoC to the body.
The ROG phone also has dedicated ultrasonic buttons, two placed on the left edge and one on the bottom right edge. these ultrasonic buttons are also customizable. and it also comes with an advanced haptic engine for generating premium vibrations while playing games.
It also has a side-mounted port which supports HDMI, USB and Gigabit Ethernet over Type-C. and It packs a 4,000mAh battery. and come on, how can you call it as a gaming smartphone without an RGB logo on it. The ROG phone has an RGB logo on the back which glows in whichever color you choose with static, breathing, and strobing effects. You can also synchronize the RGB illumination across five ROG Phones wirelessly.
Unlike other gaming smartphones in the market, The ROG phone is more like a gaming companion. it has a hell lot of accessories which can be plugged into the side-mounted 48 pin connector.
Aero Active Cooler
The Aero Active Cooler can blow air over the back for better heat dissipation ultimately resulting in better performance. The Aero Active Cooler also includes USB 3.0 Type-C connector for charger and 3.5mm audio jack for headphones. basically, you can even play when you are charging your device without any heating issues.
The WiGig Dock uses low-latency 802.11ad 60GHz WiFi to broadcast display signals to a base station that plugs into big-screen TVs.For a console-like experience, you can also use the third-party GameVice controller and pair it with the WiGig Dock.
The TwinView Dock is basically designed for live-streaming purposes as the actual devices front camera can be blocked while we are playing. It also has physical trigger buttons and dual haptic feedback engines and a massive 6,000mAh dedicated battery.
The Mobile Desktop Dock
The Mobile Desktop Dock basically makes your ROG phone into a complete desktop. you can hook up everything starting from speakers to monitors and even some USB peripherals. it will also allow you to use a keyboard and mouse which definitely is an advantage while playing multiplayer.
Asus ROG phone is definitely a game changer in mobile gaming.
